These changes were approved after city staff completed a study of Wilmington’s parking fees compared to peer cities and towns (Asheville, NC, Alexandria, VA, Charlotte, NC, Charleston, SC, Chapel Hill, NC, Durham, NC, Carolina Beach, NC, Wrightsville Beach, NC, Kure Beach, NC, and Savannah, GA) and found that the city’s fees were significantly lower.
The Downtown Parking Advisory Committee, which is comprised of stakeholders from the downtown business community, supported the parking fee changes.
